Index-Journal brings back print editions, at the request of readers

Posted

In the spring, the Index-Journal of Greenwood, South Carolina, made the difficult decision to pause printing of its Monday and Saturday editions of the newspaper to help offset lost advertising revenue.

On Sunday, Publisher Mundy Burns Price announced that due to the evolving business environment and requests from readers who miss receiving a hard copy of the newspaper on a daily basis, the printed Monday edition of the Index-Journal will once again be available beginning Oct. 5. And, beginning with the Saturday, Oct. 3 newspaper, readers also will enjoy a new Index-Journal Weekender edition.

In a column to readers, she said the Saturday print editions of the Weekender will include the sales inserts and coupon packages readers have been accustomed to seeing on Sundays. "Now," she wrote, "you’ll be able to get a jump start on planning your shopping trips for the week ahead."

The Index-Journal Weekender edition also will include: expanded food and health content with monthly insertions of Relish and Spry magazines, two days’ worth of comics, coverage of Friday night high school athletics, college football previews, a weekend markets page, a full weekend TV guide grid, double the crossword puzzles and sudoku, expanded color classified ads and a featured “Home of the Week” in an expanded real estate section.

On Sundays, readers will find the news in digital format at indexjournal.com.
